South Sudan: Lord, have Mercy!

In a country in which people are always struggling with mere survival, Covd-19 has arrived only recently, months after it came to Australia. This is making a terrible situation worse and is causing more pain and hopelessness. Here is a touching letter just arrived from the frontline of human suffering.

2018 was as eventful, wonderful as well as stressful as every other year if not more so – with plenty of drama and pain mixed in as well. Overall the number of donors and interest in AFA keeps growing. But like the LCA itself, we are also suffering from the effects of a declining church as people age and die or join other churches and stop to support Lutheran-based mission work.

South Sudan Famine & Civil War Emergency Relief

Out of a population of 10 million people, more than 300,000 have been killed, nearly a million have fled to the neighbouring countries, and more than a million are displaced internally. Daily untold numbers of people are literally dying of malnutrition and starvation – all because of man’s inhumanity to man as well as nature’s ravages.
