Persecution in the Himalayas
Even though Nepal is a secular country, religious minorities face persecution and challenges from dominant Hindu groups. The majority of people follow Hinduism in Nepal and there are some increasingly extreme Hindu groups who have been pressuring the government to oppose Christianity. This includes opposition to the building plans for Pastor Rabindra’s church (Cornerstone Church) and planned community development. The Hindu opposition is being fuelled by increasing persecution of Christians in the neighbouring country of India. This is becoming a very real challenge and problem for Pastor Rabindra’s church and himself personally, as the leader of Livingstone Ministry Nepal (LMN).

“We cannot allow you to make a church in this community” were remarks made by some Hindu groups to Pastor Rabindra. The local Hindu leaders are putting pressure on the local government to prohibit the building of a church in the community of Lalitpur. One of the Hindu leaders directly threatened Pastor Rabindra saying, “You will be in trouble if you insist on building a church in the community. We will not leave you in peace.” It is a stressful situation for Pastor Rabindra. He has requested our prayers.
“Powerful Heavenly Father, as we hear of the opposition that Pastor Rabindra is experiencing to his ministry, let us remember that he is doing Your work by the power of Your Holy Spirit. We pray that Pastor Rabindra’s heart will be kept strong and courageous in his knowledge of You and Your power over all evil. In Jesus name, we rebuke any power that would stand against Pastor Rabindra, his family and Your work in Kathmandu and Lalitpur. Cover them with Your mighty protection and continue to bless their work in Your name. Lord, we pray for those opposing You and Your work, open their eyes to their deception and bring them to know and love You. In Jesus’ name.”
