.. As soon as the Canadian man finished speaking, people started throwing the same questions that I wanted to ask. Our gatherings went on for about a month, and we found ourselves confessing our sins and, with tears in our eyes, accepting Christ as our Lord and Saviour. There were less than twenty young people like me, and this was the beginning of the birth of the Mongolian church.

2018 was as eventful, wonderful as well as stressful as every other year if not more so – with plenty of drama and pain mixed in as well. Overall the number of donors and interest in AFA keeps growing. But like the LCA itself, we are also suffering from the effects of a declining church as people age and die or join other churches and stop to support Lutheran-based mission work.
How do you imagine Mongolia to be? I had fantasised this country to be a wild untamed place of Chinggis Khan heritage with horsemen galloping across the Gobi Desert; gers (those little round white tent-things) dotting the rolling green steppe and rugged mountain peaks forming an imposing backdrop.
